Indigenous people have inhabited the Western Hemisphere for thousands upon thousands of years, and yet many of you have never met anyone like me. Many of you don't know that folks like me come in all kinds of colors, shapes, sizes, genders, and personhoods beyond what you've been taught. Many of you ignore that we are still hunted, corralled, administered, murdered, with your exceptional cold shoulder given to my melanated Relations, and your hardest side eye to our 2spirit, non-binary, and Trans* relations.
As an extremely light skin white perceived Puoinaq’jij (Two Spirit) L’nu (Mi'kmaq-Acadian), it is my job to be constantly focusing on returning the land and the knowledge to BIPOC, their allies, and All My Relations.
As a Two Spirit who is adjacently non-binary, and trans* (because it is the terminology colonialism had left me with), it is my job to put my Visibility and Existence in White and light skinned 2SIT*NBAQBLG+ spaces.
As My Relation, it is your job to follow the path the Creator has set for you.
Because this problem exists here in Powhatan Territory, “Virginia”

Why Are Safe Spaces Being Erased
A year after moderators on the Fetlife group for “Lynchburg Kink” ban any visible support of Indigenous, BIPOC, Two Spirit, Trans, Queer, or 2SIT*BLAQG+ / LGBTQIA+,
Offline and Online
moderators of the new FETapp are banning speaking about those same subjects.
If you are white, it is your job to get out of the way of BIPOC and All Marginalized Liberation, while Empowering and supporting their Return to their Land and Sovereignty by backing them up with your listening and your giving.
You can no longer pretend you are not racist.
You can no longer pretend you are not bigoted.
You can no longer pretend you are not discriminatory.
You can no longer pretend you can do this on your own.
We must all be here to help and empower one another to be the true warriors, the stewards, we all are.
To those that this washes over without drinking of me, you can keep paying the Phee until M'sit No'kama, All My Relations, are Free.
To the white folks: For over 20 years across the Western Hemisphere, I’ve taught while racialized/racially perceived as a white person while using that white-perceived space to study and dismantle bigotry, centering on racism such as anti-puoinaq/anti-Two-Spirit and anti-Indigenous, anti-Black, anti-Trans, anti-Queer, anti-Semitic, anti-Muslim, anti-Poor sentiments.
This is in addition to using my passing to do the same in companies, businesses, governmental hubs, poly and swinger communities, and more, for longer.
Much of this was done at a time, and is still done, in ways that are completely legal but can not only get me and those I care about killed, but has been the reason so many I have known and loved are either dead now, or gone in other equally horrifying ways. Why I have the level of physical and other damages that I am still healing from.
That’s not even a tip of the snow and ghosts of colonialism iceberg.
Thankfully we’ve got ancestors that can remember surviving countless ice ages, or this might have felt beyond our means.
I still do this because bigotry is still thick in every white, light skinned/"white passing", and mixed spaces I've been in, cuz.
Every. White Space.
Single. Group. Social. Casual. Business. Last decade. Last week. Yesterday. Ten minutes ago. Now.
So.
It is not about you, but how you empower others and yourself together.
It becomes about you and me after you prove, repeatedly, continually, and forever how you empower others and yourself, together.

Many of those mistakes in bigotry are not harmless, and are formed by systems that use that ruse of honest mistakes to oppress folks unto death, from colonization to now.

To this day.
I’d rather honestly spend my time in the presence of those also doing this good life work of giving Land Back, empowering Black Liberation, Freeing All Relations.

Standing in the background and processing the amount I do daily, instead of immediately responding like oppression trained me, remains incredibly freeing.
